Role: Assistant Manager - Indirect Tax/GST Department

As an Assistant Manager in the Indirect Tax/GST department, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with tax regulations and optimizing tax strategies for the firm. Your responsibilities will encompass various aspects of indirect taxation, including GST (Goods and Services Tax) and other related taxes. Here's an overview of your roles and responsibilities:

Compliance Management:
Ensure timely and accurate filing of GST returns, including GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, and annual returns.
Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
Prepare and submit responses to tax notices and inquiries from tax authorities.
Tax Planning and Optimization:
Analyze business transactions to identify opportunities for tax optimization and cost savings.
Develop and implement strategies to minimize tax liabilities while maximizing tax benefits.
Provide guidance to internal teams on the tax implications of business decisions and transactions.
Internal Controls and Processes:
Establish and maintain robust internal controls related to indirect taxation to mitigate risks of non-compliance and errors.
Review existing processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in tax reporting and compliance.
Audit Support:
Coordinate and support internal and external audits related to indirect taxation.
Prepare documentation and reconcile tax-related accounts to facilitate audit processes.
Advisory and Training:
Provide guidance and training to internal stakeholders on GST compliance requirements and procedures.
Act as a subject matter expert on indirect taxation matters and offer advisory support to business units.
Vendor and Customer Management:
Liaise with vendors and customers to address tax-related queries and resolve disputes, if any.
Ensure compliance with GST provisions in vendor contracts and customer agreements.
Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare periodic reports and analyses on GST compliance, tax liabilities, and other relevant metrics for management review.
Provide insights and recommendations based on tax data analysis to support business decision-making.
Team Leadership and Development:
Supervise and mentor junior team members, providing guidance on technical matters and professional development.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the department.
