What is Opposition….???

Since 8th November evening, when I was also overwhelmed by the historical decision, when I was standing in the long queues, when I spent the weekend with just 250 bucks in my pocket, I was also wondering what is opposition really means.

We can find numerous definitions of this word in renowned dictionaries around the globe. What I gathered after reading them, that an opposition is one of the important factor required to run the government successfully. In absence of able opposition, the future of any country is presumed to be in trouble.

 

Here I have specifically used the word ‘able’. I want to suggest that there will be differences of opinions, but there cannot be differences on the motives. So the opposition does not mean one has to oppose each and every action or decision. If the motive behind the decision is valid enough, at times there is no harm in supporting a decision taken by the ruling party. In other words, the opposition needs to be equally balanced and matured.

 

When I went deeper with my thoughts, I realized that everywhere in the World, in every segment, in every fraternity, on every forum, the opposition is loosing its glory on account of ability, maturity and balanced approach. The thoughts or proposals are opposed only because they have been put by the other party. Is it something that we have become to rigid or close minded or have lost the elasticity of thoughts or are lacking the capacity to understand?
